Hypochromic RBC's

Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Acrylic Linen Paper
Description
This painting is 2 of 3 Triptych (trilogy) RBC series of paintings. These hypochromic RBC's (red blood cells) are lacking in the normal hemoglobin content. The area of central pallor exceed 1/3 the size of the red cells making it hypochromic. In other words, there is not enough hemoglobin which gives it a skinny appearance. These cells are also ususally microcytic (smaller in size) again due to the lack of hemoglobin present. These cells are found in patients with iron deficiency, anemia, thalassemias, and other disease states.
